Inconsistent iPad name in iCloud backup settings

I just replaced my iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd generation with an iPad Pro 13” M4. I set up the new iPad from an iCloud backup of the old iPad. As such, the “About” section in the General category of the settings in the new iPad picked up the name of the old iPad. I went in and changed the name. See screenshot showing “About”.

When I went into Settings > (my name) > iCloud > iCloud Backup (This iPad), the “All Device Backups” section shows my old iPad and the new one, but the new one still shows the old name. See screenshot. There are 2 iPads listed, but the one that says “This iPad” is the old name.

Why isn’t the new name listed there for “This iPad’? Can I change it somehow? Obviously the name change I did in the “About” section didn’t carry over to the “All Device Backups” section. iPadOS 18.5

Congrats on the new iPad.

I’ve found that a power-off & restart was always required to get device name changes to fully “sync up.”

Also performing a manually-initiated iCloud backup got the “new name” in-place there too.
