Virus popup wanting me to purchase protection and pop up is every 20 seconds

This Website asked me to verify I was not a robot. I clicked on it as it is a livestock site. Then up pops that I am infected and turn on my McAfee virus and or pay $19+ . I keep getting pop up windows telling me of 3 viruses. Now to buy Norton for 19.99 a year. From gecupot.sbs. What kind of scam is this and how do I get rid of it?

This is the site: If you click on it, it may download on your computer. I hope someone knows how to check this and tell me how to get rid of it.

The verification the site asked for had nothing to do with the statement. What it really did was add itself to Safari's notifications.

Everything you're seeing is nothing but a scam.

Open Safari's preferences (Settings). Click on the Websites tab and then scroll down to Notifications. Clear any entries in the right hand window. You might find something similar in the Pop-up Windows heading below that. Block any you don't recognize.

Then if you want, uncheck the box to the right, as shown below here.

I personally can't think of any reason why I would ever want any website to push notices to me.

Thank you so much Kurt!! That did the trick. This Apple computer seldom throws anything or I can most of the time back out and all is safe. But it is so aggravating when they attach scams to sites when you're trying to diagnose a problem with livestock.
