Apple Mail on iPad Deletes Office 365 Emails Automatically

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a strange and frustrating issue for several days now, and I’d like to share it in case others have seen the same — or if someone has a solution.

I use the Apple Mail app on my iPad, configured with my Office 365 email account. What’s happening is that some of my emails are being automatically moved to the Trash folder without any action on my part.

Here’s what I’ve observed:

If I put the iPad in Airplane Mode, the issue doesn’t occur.

As soon as I reconnect to the internet, I briefly see the emails in my Inbox in Outlook (on another device), but within seconds they disappear and are moved to the Deleted Items folder.

If I remove the Office 365 account from the Apple Mail app, the problem stops completely.

This behavior seems to be triggered by the Mail app on iPad. I haven’t posted this anywhere before, but I think it’s important to report it — it could be a bug or a sync issue between Apple Mail and Office 365.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or workarounds?

Thanks in advance!

Double check mail (advance) setting for incoming mail that is it is set to go into inbox and not trash.
