Adding voice or typed captions to iPhone photos for context

I think my question says it all. I would only add that because people take so many picures our photo libraries become the journals of our lives. Granted, back in the day when ticketing for sports events, movies, concerts and so on involved a physical, paper ticket and you could make a notation on the back, this was the norm for someone like me. Now, all these questions remain, our pictures left unexplained ... Who was I with when I went to that movie? Did I like it? Did we grab dinner before or after? Yadayada

Original Title: When you take a picture with your phone, can you voice or type in a caption? This would add to the date and time stamp, which doesn't really tell you much. This would be the equivalent of say a note on movie stub of who you went with, etc.

On iOS 18 you can type a caption after taking a photo. Open it in Phots, swipe up to see the details below the photo and type a cation into the textfield below the photo.

You can also use the Journal.app to comment your photos. When you write an entry in the Journal you can add photos from your Photos Library to the Journal entry, then enter additional notes to comment the photo. the Journal makes it easy to create a diary with photos. Write in your journal on iPhone - Apple Support (BW)
