HomePod 2nd Gen stuck on “Being configured. Additional settings will be available shortly…”

Body:

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a HomePod (2nd generation) and completed the initial setup using my iPhone. However, after setup finishes, I keep seeing the message:

"HomePod is being configured. Additional settings will be available shortly…"

This has been stuck for a long time (I’ve waited over [insert time, e.g., 1 hour]). I’ve already tried the following steps:

  • Restarted my iPhone and router
  • Reset the HomePod multiple times (using top button reset)
  • Removed and re-added it in the Home app
  • Signed out and back into iCloud
  • Made sure "Home" is enabled under iCloud settings
  • Tried using a different Wi-Fi network and even tested another Apple ID
  • Called Apple Support and followed all their advice

But the HomePod still won't finish configuring properly.

I’m wondering if this might be a hardware issue (Wi-Fi chip or internal fault), or still something software-related that I’m missing.

The unit is still under [warranty / not under warranty] and I’m not sure if I should go back to the store or keep trying more at home.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions or escalation advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jack Lidstone’s

HomePod, 18

This might take several hours. See if it’s complete tomorrow morning. Don’t perform resets as this is just slowing it down. You will need to be patient! Make sure you closed the Home App and restarted the device to refresh the home App too.

Once it’s complete you should install the software update the Home App shows it needs. It shipped with older software.
