iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 18.5 won't sync with CarPlay
carplay Recognizes the car but cannot complete the sync. I have a 2019 bmw

BMW initially implemented a subscription model for 2019 vehicles that required an $80 per year fee if you wanted CarPlay. They backed off on that in December of 2019 because their customers revolted.
It's unclear from what I can find whether this applies to vehicles that did not include navigation as a factory option...
It's also unclear as to whether this would be pushed automatically or would require an update by your dealer.
Was CarPlay working previously in this vehicle with a different phone? Or is this the first attempt to get it to work?
Either way, you may want to consult your dealer.
