How do I improve fast forward and rewind responsiveness on my Apple Watch SE

while listening to something on my phone, the fast forward and reverse arrows on my watch have become very slow or unresponsive in “now playing”. I have already tried “shutting down” the watch and the phone. Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas for a fix?
