Does the password application have the ability to set a different password to the device unlock pin ?
I figure that if someone guessed the device pin then they have all your passwords where as a separate pin for access to the password application would ad another layer of security

While you can’t add an additional passcode unique to the Passwords App, you CAN set the app to require Touch/Face ID.
Simply “Long Press” the app icon to bring up the option.
As for being able to “guess” a device’s passcode …
… you can easily make your passcode much longer than the default 6-digits; making it much harder to capture even by direct observation.
Simply select the “Custom” option when changing your passcode.
I am aware you can set a longer password but the ability to set a different password/pin to the phone login is simply an extra layer of security to what is sensitive data and the ability to do so adds another layer of security to the device.
I for one would see this as a positive addition.
