Can I customize the playtime face background on Apple Watch?

For the description of the Playtime face on Apple Watch, it says "This watch face is a dynamic piece of art that’s unique to Apple Watch. Rotating the Digital Crown changes the background, and the characters react when you tap on the face." However, I have yet to learn how rotating the Digital Crown affects this face in any way. Is this an outdated feature?
