iPhone 16 Pro camera lag and microphone conflict during wireless CarPlay

Device: iPhone 16 Pro (iOS 18.5 (22F76) latest!)

Car: Škoda Octavia IV facelift (model year 2024)

Connection: Wireless Apple CarPlay

Issue:

When my iPhone is connected to my car via wireless CarPlay, the Camera app severely lags and won’t record video at all. The camera preview is frozen or stutters, and tapping the record button doesn’t start recording.

Here’s what I noticed:

• If I start a phone call while the camera is open and im connected to the CarPlay, the lag stops immediately and the camera works normally. After the call ends, it continues to work until the next car’s ignition or reconnect CarPlay.

• Alternatively, if I start playing a video in Safari on YouTube and then return to the Camera app (while connected to CarPlay), it also starts working properly.

• On the car’s infotainment screen, the microphone icon flashes orange (in the left top corner) repeatedly when the Camera app is open, as if the system is trying to access and release the mic over and over.

This suggests a conflict between the Camera app and CarPlay’s access to the microphone.

Temporary workarounds:

• Making a call or playing a video before opening the Camera.

Expected behavior:

The Camera app should function normally regardless of CarPlay being active, without requiring audio/video “wake-up” tricks.

Please investigate this conflict, as it seems like an iOS-level resource or audio input handling bug related to CarPlay.

NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM before with my iPhone 11 Pro Max (iOS 16).

And I could not find any way to contact Apple to report them this, only this phorum.
