M1 MacBook Pro blank screen but works fine (Even backlight)
My MacBook Pro with M1 chip from 2022 recently went to just a blank screen. You can see a blurry haze of the mouse icon and other icons in the background however, no image really genuinely populates. The backlight of the monitor still works when it’s plugged into an external display it works absolutely fine. This seems to be a very common problem based on other forums such as this one and Reddit, etc.
I went to the Apple Store where they looked at it and quoted me $1100 to replace the display which is ridiculous. The computer was over $4000 is only 3 1/2 years old and is six months outside of its AppleCare, but no protection or warranty for this device beyond that. This is really embarrassing and pathetic for a company.
No product that expensive should only have a life expectancy of less than five years and it’s ridiculous that they have no warranty protection for hardware other than what’s covered in AppleCare especially when this seems to be a fairly widespread problem across M chip MacBooks. Not only that but $1100 to fix a screen is almost 25% of the cost of the computer itself which seems unjustifiable.
