Various Bluetooth & mouse issues on M4 Macbook Pro.

At first- I was experiencing frequent magic keyboard input lag, erroneous inputs, and constant disconnects/reconnects (which persists). Someone suggested booting into safe mode and then booting back into regular startup, which I attempted. What has followed is a new issue wherein my 2.4Ghz connected mouse will jump over certain on-screen items, like links, or anything clickable. The skips and jumps don't always happen but they happen 75% of the time or more. I've tried everything I could find online short of reinstalling macOS. I also have had an issue where the Macbook would wake immediately after sleeping, which I thought might be related to bluetooth, since something during my debugging of that pointed to that being the case. I've started simply useing the pmset sleep now command since that is the only way I can have a functional sleep state on this $6000 computer. Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed.

Any help from the community would be great. Thanks.

Reinstall the macOS on top of your existing macOS is painless and certainly would be telling one way or the other.

It is unclear when you say " magic keyboard input lag" ...

are you saying the built in internal keyboard or an external keyboard?

if the mac is not performing as expect new out of the box, return it or exchange it for one that works.

These suggestions don’t address the issue helpfully. Replies must be based around providing real insight or meaningful community support that is tailored to and aware of the specifics in the original post. The community support space shouldn’t be used to copy and paste existing articles without genuinely engaging with the content or the specific issue. Responses that could apply to any other post don’t provide meaningful help. I look forward to chatting with other users experiencing this issue here so that we can get to the bottom of it, rather than recommending a fresh install of MacOS or returning the system.

Perhaps you may try a shut-down and cold restart instead?

Seems the relatively painless re-install of a modern macOS

is a fairly easy thing to accomplish; success is just a moment

away. If you keep notes and correctly do a 'trial run' of things.

..At times as these, occasional restarts can be therapeutic..

If nothing else, to learn patience and/or foreboding if anything.

The Apple Support articles have technical user guides, to help

and Table of Contents, too; those may be useful to read ahead.

Take care & good luck!

I can see why the First Responder suggested what they did since you mentioned it.

OP wrote, ”I’ve tried everything I could find online, short of reinstalling macOS.”

So, which of the three issues do you want to help with?

Is there an order in which to address them?

If we suggest something, biting the hand that feeds you might leave the person hungry for answers, suggestions, and assistance with these technical issues.

A shut-down and cold restart have been tried and unfortunately, as mentioned before, the "painless" re-install of a modern macOS is not fairly easy to accomplish in the case. Simply saying it is does not speak it into existence, though that would be lovely!

I would be so grateful if replies stayed on topic and personal judgements such as that I should "learn patience" I believe should be kept to oneself in the interest of making the forums as respectful and informative as possible.

Nonetheless, thank you for your reply.

Owl, if you have guidance or thoughts to offer you are free to do so (or not!). Asking me to "pick what I want help with" is neither here nor there, these forums are for all, if you are experiencing the same issues you should share your experience, and if you have suggestions you may share them at your own discretion.

Thank You!

Seems such a demand by the author would require more concrete clues than “various issues”, & perhaps less adversarial stance from the author.

BDAqua, if you can highlight where a demand was made I'd be happy to clear that up for you. Otherwis,e as mentioned elsewhere if you are experiencing the same issues it could be helpful to others to share that, otherwise if you have suggestions other than "reinstall the whole OS" which was mentioned immediately and did not resolve the issue, please feel free to share them.

Thank you for your reply 👍
