Safari can't establish a secure connection on iPhone with VPN and Bitdefender

This has been my proverbial pain in the are. My iPhone has all current updates installed. Bing works when search parameters entered however Safari will not work and comes with “Safari can’t open the page because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to server”. This occurs when the VPN is on, running Bitdefender
