Not an error message, if OS 12.0 is required to use messenger then you need to update your OS, but your iMac maybe too old, double check settings.
You can try using safari to access messenger, if that doesn't work you'll need to upgrade to a new iMac.
The macOS version you can upgrade to depends on the Mac model and the year your Mac was released.
Click the Apple menu () at the top of your screen and choose About This Mac.
