I purchased a macbook air m4 and apple care for my daughter on Amazon. I received the software download email notification on the Amazon site for apple care.

Should I download it the laptop I am using which I ordered her macbook from? I want it to cover the laptop I bought and not the one I am currently using.

Should I wait to receive the laptop I ordered for my daughter and download on her laptop?

No need, it's automatically linked to the serial number of the Mac on the order. After she sets up the new Mac, she can confirm it in System Settings > General.
