What folder does manually-attached album artwork live in? AND...

Windows 11 current update on a manually-built high-speed tower with 32GB RAM... Portable Library on external drive.

I've been manually attaching artwork to albums - and saving the image in another folder separately so I don't have to go to the net to find again if it disassociates from the album. Should I be saving it elsewhere?

It appears (from what I've read) that when I've embedded the artwork, it becomes part of the song/album record and should not thereafter become disassociated from that record. Izzatso? How can I tell/verify?

It appears that some album art has indeed disassociated itself from track/album records. How can I prevent/stop that?

Manually added artwork should be embedded in the metadata tag of the audio file. If you can see the artwork displayed in Windows File Explorer then this has been successful. Once it has been added it should stay attached, although it is possible Music's artwork cache might forget about it at some point for reasons unknown.

You can save this wherever you like. I still put a Folder.jpg image in each album folder even though not necessary for Windows Explorer to display artwork since Windows 7. Or you can make a single folder and use a format such as <Artist> - <Album>.jpg to store such images. Anything that works for you.
