Why can't I export music I own into MP3s?

I subscribed to iTunes Match years ago so that the music I owned would be protected. Now it appears that I can't export those songs into MP3 format even though that's how they were uploaded to Match. That's completely unacceptable. You have no right to restrict my access to my music that was owned before iTunes was even born. This can't be right. Tell me how to do it. My kid is traveling overseas in a week and is not allowed to bing any device that can connect to wifi. She has to use an MP3 player. I need this solved in hours not days.
