Can I delete Inbox file from Library/Thunderbird.. without affecting Gmail?

Hello. I have decided to part ways with Thunderbird and I'd like to delete the INBOX file in the .Library/Thunderbird/...imap.gmail.com directory. Is it safe to do so, and will it have any effects on my usage of Gmail?
