Macbook pro mail app not updating, using gmail

I have gone through the littany of fix-its options noted - my internet connection is strong, the software is up to date, I've rebooted, and IMAP is enabled. I've also hit "synchronize gmail" and "get new mail". None of these has worked. Mail on the iphone, ipad and in the gmail browser is all fine - it's only off in the mail app. Any ideas?

Even though everything seems set up correctly, IMAP enabled, strong connection, and Mail refreshed, sometimes the app’s connection to Gmail just hiccups. One thing that can quietly cause this is a corruption in the connection settings or the local cache Mail keeps for the account.


Try removing the Gmail account, then restarting the Mac before adding it back in. That should clear out any hidden syncing issues and usually prompts Mail to rebuild the account’s connection from scratch.
