Can 3 iPhone lists: All Contacts, All iCoud and All iPhone be combined?

My iphone 12 mini with iOS Version 18.5 has generated 3 lists: All Contacts, All iCoud and All iPhone. I only have one Mail account. Can these lists be combined? Even though my wife's contact was linked to all three, until she deleted the old and replaced with a new contact for her was she able to get through to me on iMessage. Please advise!

You have saved some contacts to your iPhone as standalone contacts, and some contacts to iCloud. There is no way to combine them; they are stored in different places (in iCloud, and on your iPhone, where they don’t sync to anything). You can add your iPhone contacts to your iCloud account individually; tap on each iPhone contact, tap Add to List. Once you have done all of them you can delete them from the iPhone list.

You should also go to Settings/Apps/Contacts, Scroll to the bottom, and change Default Account to iCloud.

It’s not clear how the iPhone contacts originated; storing contacts on the iPhone must be a holdover since before iCloud was released.

I’m just sending a picture of what I explained in my written comments. I’m hoping you will answer my question about combining these three.

But the picture doesn't tell me anything useful. It tells me you have exactly what you said you had.

If it were me, I'd log in to iCloud.com on a computer and pull up contacts. Then, on the phone, I'd go to the All iPhone list. I would compare the two. Anything you don't find in iCloud but that exists in the All iPhone, add to iCloud. Print the list of contacts when you're done so that you have a record.

Make sure everything has synced to your phone. Delete the "All iPhone" contacts from your phone as they should now be duplicates.

Go to Settings>Apps>Contacts>Default Account and make sure that it's set to iCloud.

It's possible there's a faster way to do this but I don't know of one.

Thanks for all your quick replies. I sent a picture of what I had initially described because your first reply didn't tell me HOW TO go about COMBINING the lists into one. Actually, I kept researching and found what worked for me: Go into Settings>Apps>Contacts>Contacts Accounts>iCloud>Sync This iPhone>toggle off and back on. What was left in "Lists" was "All iCloud"; no duplicate Contacts and NO OTHER LISTS! There were no duplicates either when I logged into iCloud.com and compared the two. Thanks for your time and attention to resolving my issue and have a happy 4th (if you're in the US).
