Does clearing cookies and cache in Safari close open tabs?

Does clearing cookies and cache in Safari close open tabs? It was suggested to do this to speed up Safari.

I do NOT want to close any open tabs.

Is there anything I can clean up in Safari without closing the open web pages?

(In case I didn’t make it clear, I want to keep my open tabs, websites, whatever-you-call-them.) 😁

iPhone XR

iOS 18.5

Not sure what version of Safari

Thanks!

I found this support page: Clear the history, cache, and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Clear cookies and cache, but keep your history

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced > Website Data.
  2. Tap Remove All Website Data.

When there's no website data to clear, the button to clear it turns gray. The button might also be gray if you have web content restrictions set up under Content & Privacy Restrictions in Screen Time.

I tried it on another phone and it did not close the tabs, so I did it on my phone. I am happy to report that my tabs, recent tabs, and login information are intact!

I hope this helps someone else.
