I just started my journey with Macbook Air M4. I have a folder in Trash which I cannot delete it. The error message is that the folder is being used but I'm not sure which application is using the folder.
Appreciate if you can assist !

Hold down the option key when emptying trash and see if that works.
There must be another part of the file in use. You can use an app like AppCleaner that will find most or all of the associated files related to this app that you can then delete. Also check in your user/shared directory of any relocated file folders that may have parts in it.
Do you have any app that is is used to purchase airline tickets? If so then close or remove that app. before trying to empty the trash.
interestingly I managed to boot the Macbook in Safe mode but still cannot empty the trash bin. I would imagine Safe Mode I will be able to empty the trash bin but I was wrong. I also tried to Quit One Drive as in fact I was copying this folder from One Drive to my Desktop and now I decided to keep the copy in One Drive instead and so I wanted deleted the folder in Desktop.
Hello Sir, thank you for your advice and I know where is the folder and I use Spotlight to find the folder, I will also have to move it to trash bin. When I tried to empty trash bin, it is also not possible.
Ok thank you, I will try the AppCleaner, in fact I went to the Apple store Genius Bar, the service attendant also did not managed to help me and only ask me to create a new user and delete the existing user or re-setup the macbook. I will try the AppCleaner first.
Just an update, so now I have deleted the folder in One Drive, but I still cannot empty the trash bin. Is there anyway to force Empty the Trash Bin ?
I have tried that and it does not work either.
Then your only other option is to purge this file or folder from your Mac. Use Spotlight and find it and remove it.
