I want to determine if I can move my MacBook Air backup files from an external drive (full) to another external drive. It is not likely I will need to access these old files, but I want to keep them for now.
Can't be done. It had been possible in what is now the distant past, but recent Time Machine backups can no longer be moved from one drive to another. Not with Disk Utility, not with the Finder, not with dd, nothing. It won't work. I have tried.
Put that backup disk on the shelf and start a new set on another drive.
