I hate when I have taps open and I am using one tab and while using it the whole screen disappears to the side. How do I stop the screen from moving to the side permanetly?

Are you talking about Stage Manager? That feature automatically shoves recently-used windows off into a strip of thumbnails on the side of the screen.

There's another feature that you may want to turn off. I ran into it when upgrading from Ventura to Sequoia – so I don't know if it is in Sonoma.
This is in System Settings > Desktop & Dock. t's called "Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen." If you're used to having a lot of nearly full-screen windows, and moving them around from time to time, it is easy to accidentally bump the menu bar, at which point this "feature" destroys your screen arrangement.
You were correct. My desktop no longer appears and my active open tabs no longer disappear. Thank you so much.
See if Control-Command-F changes the view of the app to what you expect.
