Spam coming to old me.com email

I just started getting spam today at my original me.com email that I haven't used since Apple turned it off in 2012. There is nothing I can do about it because Apple didn't think to give us the ability to manage the inbox. Blocking sender is useless since email addresses change. Rules don't work because my email address isn't in the to or cc blocks. Apple Support couldn't help as there's nothing they can do. So I was told to just submit feedback at feedback.apple.com. I am here asking others to do the same, even if the issue hasn't reached you yet. To make it easy, you can copy and paste this in the comment field, modifying as you wish:

Please allow users to deactivate or at least turn off email for me.com email accounts. We are receiving spam and there is nothing we can do about it. Blocking sender is useless since email addresses change. Rules don't work because my email address isn't in the TO or CC. Emails sometimes come in faster than they can be deleted. This was a horrible oversight and we need a fix now.

Thanks for reaching out, Stephanie Michelle. 😁

Unfortunately as you have discovered, you will need to manually block, report and delete the messages.

Good job in identifying those scams and spreading the message.

In closing:

If you receive a suspicious email or SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, please email it to reportphishing@apple.com. 
