Missing two-factor authentication code for iCloud access on Windows 11 laptop

I am trying to access iCloud on a new Windows 11 laptop.

I follow the steps and receive the email notification that somebody is trying to sign in from my account. I give the authority to allow excess and and then told that a six digit code has been sent to me as part of the two factor identification process.

However, the six digit code does not appear on any of my Apple devices . Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Step-by-Step: Fix Missing Two-Factor Code

1. Wait 10–30 Seconds

Sometimes there's a short delay. Leave the prompt open on the Windows login screen and check your Apple devices again (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Look for a pop-up that says:

“Apple ID Sign-In Requested”
Location: [City, Device]
[Don't Allow] [Allow]

If you haven’t tapped “Allow” yet, the code won’t be generated.

2. Force a Code from a Trusted Device

If no prompt appears, you can manually get a verification code:

On iPhone or iPad:

  • Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Two-Factor Authentication
  • Tap Get Verification Code

On Mac:

  • Go to System Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security
  • Click Get Verification Code

Now use that 6-digit code on your Windows login prompt.

3. Make Sure Trusted Devices Are Online

The code won't appear if:

  • Your devices are offline or not connected to Wi-Fi.
  • You're not signed into iCloud on the trusted device.
  • Your time/date is incorrect on the device.

Double-check that:

  • Wi-Fi is on
  • You're signed in with the correct Apple ID
  • Time & date are auto-set via Settings > General > Date & Time

4. If You Still Can't Get a Code

Try logging in again from Windows, and this time:

  • On the login screen, after entering your Apple ID and password, wait a moment.
  • Then check all your trusted devices again for the prompt.
  • If it still doesn't appear, manually generate a code as in step 2.
