How can I import various artists CDs in Apple Music app on iOS 18.5?

When importing a "various artists" cd into the iOS (18.5) Music app, it persistently shows two of the tracks as separate . . . even though the album remains intact on MacOS (15.5). I even obtained a 2nd copy of the cd, and the same two tracks still separate. I assume that it was something with the coding for those two tracks . . . does anyone know any tricks to get that to show as one album on iOS?

To clarify, the album shows up as a whole album (like you popped the CD into a home hi-fi and listen to it from beginning to end), but when you sync it to your phone, it splits it up into multiple (or many) albums? I have this issue and at first was only happening to compilations, but now I noticed a single album with a single artist is now split into 19(!) different albums on my phone. I don't do subscription services and Apple Music is switched off.

What I noticed too...I'll import a compilation album (or any album now...smh) on the Mac. The first sync to the phone it shows up as 1 album! Then I'll import another album and I'll sync my phone. The previously synced album on the phone gets split, the gets further split with each sync effort. Also, it will show a different(!) artist completely unassociated with the compilation in question as the artist for that album in it's many instances.

Not really a solution, but to say you're not the only one...I made sure my various artists compilations were checked as compilations in MacOS Music, and since I started my new library, I have been diligent about filling in Album Artists and the sorting tabs for each albums too. It seems something is broken between the Mac/PC and the iPhone. This is is something Apple really needs to fix.

For the sake of experimentation, I am going to try to delete all the music on my phone and re-sync the 3,990 albums in my collection back over. It's going to take a day to do because I down-convert going to the phone so I can have everything with me. Maybe that's the issue? I will be reporting back on this issue because it has costed me a bit of sanity.

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply! It does seem that this has been a lingering issue (over several OS's) for a number of people. I have tried a number of things (synching with "this album is a compilation" unchecked, then synching again with it checked, adding a suffix letter, etc.). I have not edited song info as suggested below, so may give that a try. I guess Apple views those of us with large, carefully curated libraries as dinosaurs, but I'm not giving up! (:

As an update: I went to re-copy all my music back to my phone, and the phone and computer are being babies. It copied 4 albums I recently acquired and no compilation albums and nothing else. To top things off, doing this has caused all of my playlists to lose every single track in every single playlist ON THE COMPUTER. Something is seriously broken and wrong with Apple's Music ecosystem, and I am ready to call it quits. This is not how you treat a LIFELONG customer. Right now, I am performing a computer backup before I futz with it more. I'm trashing all the empty playlists afterwards, but as far as our original issue, mine just got worse really quick.

Dan,

Apologies for not updating sooner, but it has taken this long to get the phone to cooperate with the process.

So far, all of my albums have stayed intact on the phone! I had to do multiple syncs for it to copy all tracks though.

My recommendation: connect the phone to the computer and navigate to the music tab. Uncheck the option to sync your music to the phone, then synchronize the phone. Then, check the option to sync your music to the phone and do another sync. At risk of stating the obvious, if you have a large library it may take a long time.

Note: When I lost my playlists, I think it was because I deleted the music on the phone instead of doing the checked options on the computer that first time. While I cannot understand exactly how it justified doing all of that, it was still my boneheaded mistake.
