The iPad (A16) doesn't. MacTracker doesn't have an entry for it yet, but several articles on third-party Web sites indicate that it has 6 GB of RAM (i.e., less than the minimum requirement for Apple Intelligence).

If you're in the market for a new iPad to run Apple Intelligence, you'd be well-advised to look at a Mini, Air, or Pro. (Or to wait and see if the next generation of plain iPads will support it.)

All iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Vision Pros eligible for Apple intelligence have two things in common:

  • An Apple Silicon processor. (No Intel-based Macs have Apple Intelligence features.)
  • At least 8 GB of RAM.

The 9th-generation iPad has only 3 GB of RAM. That's not enough for Apple Intelligence, and I believe that only a few of the iPads (plain, Air, mini, or Pro) that will be getting iPadOS 26 have that little.
