If you're in the market for a new iPad to run Apple Intelligence, you'd be well-advised to look at a Mini, Air, or Pro. (Or to wait and see if the next generation of plain iPads will support it.)

Apple Intelligence requires a different processor class than is in your Gen9 iPad. Even an iPad 10 dos not meet the processor requirement. See:

The 9th-generation iPad has only 3 GB of RAM. That's not enough for Apple Intelligence, and I believe that only a few of the iPads (plain, Air, mini, or Pro) that will be getting iPadOS 26 have that little.

Your iPad will get iPadOS 26, but not Apple Intelligence.
