Can't Access Music Bought on iTunes in 2012–2013 - Old MacBook Dead, No Access via Apple Music or iTunes

Hi,


I bought several songs on the iTunes Store back in 2012 and 2013 using my Apple ID. I still have all the original receipts as proof of purchase.


My old MacBook, where the music was originally downloaded, no longer turns on - and I no longer own a Mac. I've since installed both iTunes and the Apple Music app on my Windows laptop, signed in with the same Apple ID, but I can't access my purchased music.


  • In iTunes, there’s no clear option to view or redownload past purchases.
  • In the Apple Music app, when I click on "Purchased," I get this error message: "Access to se-edge.itunes.apple.com was denied."


How can I recover or redownload the music I paid for?

See Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support in case the purchases have been hidden for one reason or another. In 2009 Apple changed from suppling a one-time only download to allowing for repeat downloads of purchases, providing that item was still in the store. Rights holders may withdraw content from the store which can undermine your ability to redownload past purchases. Ideally you would retain your own backups. If you're still not able to find these items you can try reaching out to Apple via https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.
