how to download drm free songs in Music app on Mac?
I am trying to use songs I have downloaded to my MacBook Pro M1 through my Apple Music subscription to add them to an iMovie I'm making as an anniversary gift for my wife. When I select the media tab and find the playlist I created, iMovie indicates nearly 25% of the songs "... are protected and unavailable". Of note, I've had an active iTunes Match subscription for many years.
Reviewing online I am seeing many threads where people indicate that all songs should be DRM-free if you have iTunes Match. I've also seen others indicating that one can delete any DRM-protected song and then re-download a DRM-free version. However, I have tried to remove the download and then download again and continue to get only protected .m4p files each time.
Interestingly, the majority of the songs that iMovie says are "protected" are songs I very recently added and downloaded to my Apple Music library.
Can someone help me understand if, given my circumstances, I should be able to get a DRM-free version of my Apple Music songs? If so, what specific steps to take to remove my current file and get an updated one?
Thanks very much.
