Apple Music error playing on other devices, when no other devices are playing.
I go to play music with Apple Music (macOS app) on my Mac and get the error: To play "song name" stop playing on another device. No other devices are playing. Song will play for 15 seconds and stops. I can play music on the HomePod (through Siri or iPhone Control Center Media Controls or iPhone Home App).
Restarted HomePod, restarted Home App, no luck in playing on Mac/AM.
When I remove the HomePod as an accessory in the Home App, sign out in the Home App, unplug HomePod and set up again AND after several hours, it *seems" to reset something and then I can play music on the Mac/Apple Music app again. When this happens, I can't play music on the HomePod.
Detail 1. In the past when I'd ask Siri to play music on the HomePod and Apple Music was playing on the Mac, Mac would stop playing and HomePod would start with the new song. Then last week in this same situation I'd hear music from both devices at the same time, and then the HomePod would stop after 15 seconds. HomePod would not play music past 15 seconds. The behavior switches between devices, it seems that when things are *cleared* whatever device I play first becomes primary, and the other device will not play.
BUT I CAN ALWAYS PLAY MUSIC from Apple Music in Safari when I can't on the Mac/AM native app.
Update: Mac: just put in recovery mode, erased drive and set up as new. For a few hours Music would play on Mac/AM app and HomePod. Even both at the same time. Then a few hours later I started getting the error again on the Mac.
Details:
Apple Music App
macOS Sequoia 15.5
MacBook Pro 14 M2 Max
HomePod v1
Streaming music, not downloads
No iTunes Match songs
Same Apple ID for all
What I've tried with Apple Support:
Restart Mac
Sign out of AM on Mac
Mac Safe Boot
Mac AM create new music libraries
Mac create new user account
Erase Mac and reinstall macOS
Nothing seems to help but time, and then one device is always locked.
Anyone else?
