Siri and Handoff disabled due to a profile

Hello,

I am unable to use certain features on my Mac because it says a profile is managing them. Siri does not work; when I try to use it, it says a profile has disabled it. It also shows that a profile is disabling it in settings.

The same happens for handoff features:

Interestingly, though, I have no profiles on my mac. This computer has never been managed by an organization (neither work nor school). I bought it; it's my personal laptop.

Note that this issue started after I took a proctored test on my computer. It used Assessment Mode (https://education-static.apple.com/leadership/k12-assessment-overview.pdf).

  • What happens when you choose the profile and push the "-" button to remove it?
  • Also do you have anything running on startup at  > System Settings > General > Login Item & Extensions?

Make sure to restart your computer. If still no luck, post the free EtreCheck report using the Additional Text options. This will identify anything else in your Launch Folders that may be preventing access.

I removed both of those profiles and it didn't make a difference.

I also checked login item & extensions. There's lots of apps, but they're all apps I want to be running at logic/in the background.

I confirmed via terminal that I do have an extra profile from Assessment Mode that is not shown in the list above. Its configuration is:

Payload Data: {
    allowActivityContinuation = 0;
    allowAutoCorrection = 0;
    allowDictation = 0;
    allowFeature1 = 0;
    allowFeature2 = 0;
    allowKeyboardShortcuts = 0;
    allowPredictiveKeyboard = 0;
    allowSpellCheck = 0;
    allowWritingTools = 0;
}

So that would appear to be the culprit here. I have had trouble deleting it though, and it seems my only option might just be to clear all of the profiles on my computer (including WiFi configurations, VPNs, etc.) through Recovery Mode.
