Siri no longer finds songs by name on my iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 18.5

I often use Siri to play songs on my Iphone 12 Pro while driving. After recently updating to iOS 18.5 Siri always responds with:

"I couldn't find SONGNAME in your Apple music Library", despite that I can manually navigate to said files and play them with Apple Music.

All the music is stored on my phone and I do not use any subscription services to access music. I can still use Siri to play songs via playlists, just not individual song names like I used to.

There is chatter about this issues in this subreddit but nothing substantial, only mentions of other users having similar issues with 18.5.

  • toggling this setting on the iPhone
Settings > Apps > Music > Show Apple Music
  • Restarting my phone
  • Synching all songs and playlists from Itunes on PC.

None of these worked.

I had the same issue. I titled all my music as such….”chicago-hard habit to break” in the “name box” in iTunes and never had an issue until 18.0. What I did after trying everything suggested was copy what was in the “name box” and entered it again in the “artist box” and re-synced. Siri then would understand and play song I verbally requested that was in my library. I hope this helps!!

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure how big your iTunes library is, but I have thousands of songs, so I am not sure I would have the time (or inclination), to manually edit all my files. Is this what you did for your entire library?

Cheers
