loud pop after cleaning my mid 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 El Cap with ATI Radeon 5770 GPU. Before the pop the screen went stripey so I cleaned it. It booted and ran for 20 minutes then popped and now chimes repeatedly when I try booting. Suggestions?.

no advice on that one, it does not appear to be common card and for a Mac Pro. Whatever card you choose, you MUST have a version with Mac Firmware, or you will need to apply some unsupported hacks (blind) before it will light up. Commonly available aftermarket flashed cards include this, but you MUST verify that card has Mac Boot screens support:
AMD 7950
AMD R9 280/280X
AMD RX 580
If you EVER want to run 10.14 Mojave, you will need a card with Metal support. The ones I listed can be flashed for Metal support.
As I have repeatedly said, you can't just install a regular PC Card and expect it to work adequately. It is essential that you acquire a card with MacOS boot screen support.
Flashing graphics cards requires a PC to run the flashing software, and enough power in enough slots to power the computer's card and a card being flashed. It is considered near-impossible on a Mac.
Got it, it seems you have to have a Windows Boot drive installed on the same mac then insert the PC card and flash it from there. Sooo, I'll probably cancel my order since they have not gotten back to me.

in the US, the cards listed on eBay by competent Sellers bend over backward to show you screenshots of Boot Screens that the card has produced.
You may want to take a look at some to see what I mean, even if you hate eBay and do not want to use eBay.
Got it. What is the most powerful GPU I can install for El Cap 10.11.6? I cannot tell from the models you mentioned.
I have pre installed apps but no disks. I just wanted to migrate everything to an upgraded OS. Yeah I think HS is as High as I can go with a 10.11.6
Also Im not sure how I can Flash the card if I cant get a screen to come up. But the card is supposed to be a Mac version. Is that what you mean?
Good thinking. I wont try to "Mod" anything. So is the "Stunt" cable what i described? You might have guessed Im no electrician.
