How do I add a new bar in Logic Pro 11's score editor?

I now have Logic Pro 11.2 and am pleased to find a score editor that looks very similar to Aegis Sonix (yes, I am that old). The only problem is that I am finding basic steps such as adding a bar to my score very difficult. The Aegis Sonix interface just gave me a new bar every time I added a note that overlapped the remaining beats in the preceding bar. But Logic Pro has me trying everything I can think of and I still have only the one bar that I cannot add to.

Frankly, I despair of how overly complicated software has become with simple functions like these.

Am I missing something?
