Why do I have to go through google to use safari

I wanted to use safari for the first time. Youtube comes up and I’m supposed to sign into google to use Safari. A search doesn’t specifically address that issue. If I can’t use safari another way, I will delete it. Can any one let me know if using safari has to go through Youtube/google please.

Thank you!

Google is frankly desperate to get Mac users to install Google, so that they can continue their mission of harvesting your personal information. If you are encountering a "log in to your Google Account" harassment dialog on the YouTube website or any other, it is a manifestation of their desperation.

The authorization request is an integral part of the YouTube website code — code that Google owns and controls, so they are not likely to change anything about it.

Does that explain what you're encountering?

You can choose to hide distracting items: Use Distraction Control in Safari to hide items on a webpage - Apple Support. That will not eliminate the harassment, but it may make it less objectionable.

That’s the way it should be, but every time I launch Safari it takes me to Youtube and if I click tke link to Safari, I am asked for my google password. I can’t find out how to have it launch independantly. Maybe no one else faces this since I have received no other answers. I’ll see if I can find a safari support site before I delete Safari. In case anyone else can help I will keep checking this forum. I do thank you for trying to help!
