Why did my screenshots disappear after creating a new folder on my MacBook Air?

I highlighted a bunch of screenshots I made from desktop and I selected 'New Folder With Selection' and that created a new folder but when I went into it, none of the screenshots were there as if they disappeared. I went into bin and they weren't there either.

screenshot image display Suddenly screenshot files do not 'present' as image but as jpeg, png file . This has happened before, and again cannot figure out how to change back to image. File Missing for Screenshots Imported to Photos Here's what's happened: I took several screenshots on my MacBook. I imported those screenshots into the Photos App. I then deleted the screenshots from Finder and emptied my trash. Now when I click on the images in the Photos App, I get the missing file error. Since I already permanently deleted the original files, is there nothing to be done for these screenshots? And going forward, am I supposed to keep all my screenshots in Finder somewhere?

Have you restarted the Mac since you created that folder?
