How do I unlock a new MacBook Air M4 after multiple failed password attempts?

Getting passed the password stage is my main problem on new MacBook M4 Sequae. My wife's password, all details have been entered correctly. The account has been locked several times. Each retry has accepted none!

Thank you for reply, like all others not answering my question to correct malfunction of a new machine, when following instructions to the "T". Account details, password and time laps also; still to no avail. Extended time laps have all been waited on and completed. Done! I'm calling in a 'geek', still hopeful that he can correct a mistake in the new M4 Sequoia for my wife. Last resort, return it for refund!

What malfunction? That you are unable to enter the correct password for this Mac? Which password are you referring to: user account, Administrator account, firmware, etc.?

when following instructions to the "T".

What instructions exactly? We have no idea what you already have tried and what didn't work for you.

To the "T" (total) instructions coming from setting up a newly purchase MacBook M4 Sequoia for my wife, whichever account I use no instant entry has been given. Security pass number is used coming via my wife's phone which also has allowed me to continue.

The trials and times taken for accessing this machine is getting beyond me. Supposedly easy (account name and password with a confirmation number via iPhone). This having been done several times each time (your account is locked).

Just trying to understand. Typically, when setting up a new Mac, it will go through an "automated" process, called the "Setup Assistant." During the process, it will guide you through setting up the initial user account (which will have administrator privileges), and then, give you the option to associate the computer to an Apple Account (used to be called an Apple ID.)

This is what I am trying to understand. Where exactly in this process are you not able to proceed: User account creation? Associating it to an Apple Account? ... or somewhere else?

At best, I can only guess that the issue is with the Apple Account. Is that correct?

Thank you Tesserax, having called in the "geek" I found him to be most useful with getting through the mumble and jumble received so far. Using The ($) key immediately after an old account name (now remarried) to a remarried name, in other words the newer account became the principal account, (unable to get rid of the old account which 'Siri' picked up and used on this new Mac thus the failure to engage!) In this instance am able to connect and all information except the mail account did not appear because of the primary account was not picked up or found apparently by 'Siri' which could have been the cause of all my troubles to getting my wife's new laptop up and running in the first instance. Now the ongoing setting of the Keyboard is giving me a headache, some alphabetical keys are not working. The "Geek" is coming again to change the old account to new. In other words, get rid of the old account altogether. Previously this was not able to be done by Apple. Marriage names change caused this problem. This concurs the trouble I have had. Mailbox has only one address i.e. the latest married name which is the only one my wife has now for a few years now.

I do hope someone understand this as a problem.
