Transferring from Family Shared Services like Apple Music, ICloud+ and Apple Music

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to leave my Family Sharing group and start my own individual subscription for iCloud+ (300 GB+) and Apple Music. I also have access to Apple TV+, but that part isn’t critical. My main concern is avoiding any data loss especially my iCloud Drive contents, Apple Music library, and playlists.

I’ve read different things in the community and even contacted Apple Support. Some say Apple Music and iCloud+ data are preserved for around 30 days after leaving Family Sharing, giving you time to subscribe again and recover everything. Others warn that Apple Music data could be lost immediately.

Can anyone confirm the correct process?

Also, what steps should I take just to be safe? For example:

– Export Apple Music library as XML?

– Make a full iPhone/Mac backup beforehand?

– XML file of playlists?
