PSA on 11.2 and Control Surfaces
Thought I would share my joy (ahem, cough cough) on the latest update.
I have a Mackie MCU, Extender and a C4 as part of my control surface setup with Logic. I also have some fairly extensive customizations made to how they work in Logic. When it all works, it works great.
Every one of the past few updates has overwritten these customizations, which I then have to recreate. That takes basically an afternoon to do. I have posted bug reports with Apple on this in the past. Unless something major has changed in an update, I don't think this should be wiping out certain (any) of my preferences.
11.2 however has brought a new problem where when I go to edit the controller assignments it breaks how the Mackie MCU works. It looks like it's saving it back as an Extender, either way the location display and the jog wheel stop working every time I try to recreate my settings.
I have posted another bug report about this as well.
After another afternoon monkeying around with this I have no choice but to roll back to 11.1.2 (I did make a backup.)
I realize bugs happen, but I'm frustrated by the fact that I feel like an unpaid intern in Apple's quality control department (does that even exist?)
In any event, if you have any control hardware for Logic you may want to run a back first (always good advice anyway.)
