How can I resolve unauthorized charges on my Apple Account?

Apple is charging me for things I didn’t buy!

the items were cancelled before and Apple accepted the cancellation.

Then two weeks later, I receive a receipt saying that 34,46 Dollars were deducted from my credit card.

Why would they charge people two weeks for nothing they didn’t buy???

This is unacceptable and unethical behaviour!

Even their advisors can’t do anything about it.

Hello again ~ You must understand that I am a fellow forum member like yourself. I am volunteering my time to try and assist you. I must ask questions to try and understand what has happened. Apple has no way of knowing who made these purchases. If they’re on your credit card statement only…you have a problem with your card. Is that the case?? Does someone else has access to your device?? Where are you seeing these charges??

It’s the weekend. I’ll go and see my bank on Monday.

I don’t think it’s fraudulent because these items were cancelled weeks ago and the advisor I talked to yesterday morning say the refund should be returned within 5 days depending on the bank institution.

Then, Apple decides the refund is not eligible!

I would’ve understood their position if the transaction was made right away after the “supposed” purchase in a way that at least I’d have received the receipt May 17th, but two weeks later after I even forgot about everything, they send me a receipt at 01:51 am while I was sleeping.

This is really weird and doesn’t make any sense.

Finally, this is the only time I have to deal with such an issue. Dealing with other different international companie, they refund you once you show them that the purchase was done by mistake.

With Apple, there is no purchase, still they charge you!!

As soon as I received a notification by email that a purchase had been made, I immediately submitted a refund request to Apple and explained that I had no knowledge of how this purchase occurred. Something was clearly wrong, and I acted quickly to report it.

Despite this, Apple put my request on hold for nearly two weeks. It was only after this long delay that I received a receipt confirming the transaction — even though I never authorized or initiated it.

What makes this situation even more confusing is that there was no active subscription linked to my account in the first place. Therefore, there is no basis to speak of a “renewal” or automatic charge. This was not a renewal of any existing service, but a completely unauthorized purchase.

I do not understand why it took Apple two weeks to investigate such a clear issue, especially when I reported it immediately. The lack of transparency and the refusal to issue a refund are unacceptable.

I have been a faithful customer to Apple since 2016. But I’m now reconsidering all this.

I’m not alone in feeling this way. Many customers have felt betrayed by Apple when faced with unauthorized charges and a cold, automated refusal to refund. When a company that holds your payment info doesn’t take accountability, it’s not just disappointing — it feels like a violation of trust. So it’s over with Apple!

I told you. I didn’t purchase anything.

And let’s suppose it was done by mistake or by someone else (according to Apple),

I cancelled the purchase the same day I received a notification on my account explaining that I HAVEN’T BOUGHT ANYTHING AND THIS SHOULD BE A MISTAKE.

I should’ve received an answer in two days. But no! Apple two weeks to decide I should be charged for something I explained to them that I didn’t buy.

The items themselves were nevet used! How could you charge a client for something he didn’t even use???

On other platforms everywhere, once you claim a refund and as long as it has not been delivered or used, you are refunded. Very simple!

You can even order anything and you once you receive and it doesn’t meet you standards, you are also refunded.

I don’t get Apple policy towards its clients.

By the way, I saw many people here complaining about exactly the same issue.

I think it’s high time to review the policy.

To be clear there is absolutely no way you are being charged for an in-app purchase from Apple without going through the authorization screen. This is where you double click the side button with the amount showing on the screen. For a free trial you will see the trial period along with the start date of the subscription and its price you will be billed if not cancelled. On that same screen, there is also a message that says to make sure you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial period to avoid charges. Following the double click authorizations is made by Face ID or Passcode for verification. If you are an Organizer of a Family Plan using Purchase Sharing, you have authorized members to use your payment method.

I suspect you did authorize a free trial and forgot about it. You were charged because that is what you had agreed to when it was authorized. It really makes no difference if you use a subscription/service or not. You could have a Netflix subscription and you are still going to be charged whether you have watched any of the shows during that month. Cancelling any free trial/subscription is super easy and can even be verified that they have been cancelled on the same screen.

In most cases all transactions in the App Store are final, but at times Apple may provide a compassionate refund. It should never be expected though. I would suggest to set a reminder to cancel a free trial, so you do not forget. If you think that refunds are not denied in the Google Play Store, you may want to spend some time over on their support site where you will find the same thing. You find users making the same complaints and ironically say that they are now going to switch to the iPhone.
