Piano roll keeps jumping around when I punch in notes

Thank you for taking the time to reply; I have checked and those settings are selected. Trying to attach a screen recording. But if we look at one of those notes, for example, the playhead will instantaneously jump about 10 measures to the right, and it does this for every single note I try to input. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for when it happens. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

So now it just jumps vertically, but the playhead stays put. I'll call that a win!

so far that's nabbed it, but I'll let you know if it rears its head again, sir. TY

Not solved, but improved. Still janky and jumping around vertically in the piano roll, but at least playhead is staying in place. Thank you!

Long term I'll get set up with a midi piano ,but I like my workflow right now, where I have to punch in each note with intent. It's kind of like writing a letter by hand vs. typing an email.
