Logic Pro X MIDI keyboard wrong note / Midi doing pitch bends randomly in Logic X

Logic Pro X MIDI keyboard playing wrong notes and pitch bending on its own

When I press the E note on my MIDI keyboard, the wrong note is played. Resetting the MIDI settings fixes the issue, but the piano plays a half-step off on its own. It is like it is doing a pitch bend on its own. I tried a different MIDI keyboard that works fine on a different computer, and the same error occurs.

My projects are all half-finished, please help.

TRANSPOSE!! Can't believe I figured this out (at least for me). I'm using Logic X with an old M-Audio O2 controller. I found the manual online. It said:

Transpose

You can transpose the keyboard to change the key of the music you are playing without changing the key you are playing in.

  1. Press “TRANSPOSE” (OCTAVE + and OCTAVE – together).
  2. Press the OCTAVE + or - key for every semi tone you want to transpose up or down.

So it's a hardware issue, I needed to adjust the transpose settings on the controller up two semi-tones and voila, all notes and chords displaying in the Logic LCD display correctly.

Do I get a prize?

It's possible you have either a transpose option activated or accidently some wrong notes assigned to you control surface.

Transpose:

• Click into the empty Main Window, make sure no region is selected. Look now in the Region Inspector, Transpose should have no value assigned.

• There is also a Transpose option in the Track Inspector you like to verify, track by track.

Control Surface:

Create a backup first.

Verify and edit manually here:

Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignements

or just reset the Control Surface Settings:

Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Rebuild Defaults

I use a Novation Launch Key and it works well with Logic. I don't think that Sonoma will cause the issue. The OS itself is not something that would change the midi note value. You might want to try a different usb cable. Preferably USB C to printer. No Hubs.

Have you started your mac?

Have you downloaded the Novation Logic Driver? And checked for keyboard firmware update? I just had a second update on mine in over a year a couple of days ago. In either case, you might delete your midi instrument from the Control Surface Setup and reinstall the mid device.

I've tried all these methods, deleted the Logic-related plist file from the preferences folder, but to no avail! I believe this issue is directly related to Mac OS. I started encountering this problem after switching to Sonoma. Because the same issue exists in Pro Tools, but there is no problem when I use both MIDI keyboards on different devices. :(

I use two keyboards: one is the M-Audio Keystation 61MK3, and the other is the Novation LaunchKey Mini. Both of these keyboards work seamlessly on other computers and iPad.

I believe the issue is system-related. If I can find the time, I would like to perform a fresh Sonoma installation from scratch using USB on the Mac Studio.
