Hello Just updated to Logic Pro x 11.2. Found out that automation bypass don't exist.

Normally I just bypass plugins/effects in automation. Need this function, could yo please help me with this?

Thanks.

Hi,

This def looks weird.

  • Have you tried using "Latch" and automating the bypass function?
  • Conversely, enable "automation parameter in read mode" and just click on the bypass buttons and they should automatically show up in the Automation Parameter menu?
  • Lastly, the Q4 should have a Mix blend knob that you can use as a quasi bypass if automated.

You should report this:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Logic Pro - Apple
  2. Feedback Type: “Broken feature/Report a problem”
  3. Comment: Please provide a detailed description of the issue you encountered and the troubleshooting steps you have attempted thus far. Include the URL of this thread for reference.

The fastest way to get it fixed is to report it. The Apple Team does read these.

Make sure to notify Apple right away... this could be extremely valuable. It's the most effective method to catch the attention of the Logic Pro team.

On a side note, getting rid of your Prefence List has helped me solve this issue in the past as QuantumVerse111 pointed out.

@QuantumVerse111 this does not seem to be a "software glitch" kind of problem, and probably the thread could have been better named. The issue is not so much that the automation "does not work" but more that by accident or design version 11.2 has removed the "bypass" function of most plugins from the available automation parameters. The best work-around seems to be using the "latch" mode to make Logic generate a new automation lane for the relevant bypass control, which worked quite well for me (most of the time). Hopefully this will be addressed in the next update, as many people seem to be having a problem with it based on this thread.

Yes, finally! Update 11.2.1 Thanks for that. I think that (about) a month to fix this, is a long time for a basic function.

My experience is that users didn't get any information of when it's going to work or excuse, just silence.

I worked in an older version of Logic and bought another DAW (another brand), to be sure to finish my works correct and in time.

In the future I will do as Eddy recommended, save last working version of Logic before update to a new version.

I have the same problem. I tried the Touch and Latch method as a workaround. They seemed to work, but then I had problems with trying to manually add extra data points to the automation once it was created. The plugin did not seem to follow the manually added points or there was a delay of some sort, as I'd see the plugin Bypass button go off despite the automation lane showing non-bypass at the same point. Seems a bit hit or miss, but will experiment more. I was using Melodyne Essential on Logic Pro 11.2 on a Mac Mini M4.

Your assumptions are just wrong. The number of views is displayed on the main page of this forum.

so my second question is why doesn't Apple respond and/or fix this problem? I'm not able to find a workaround. Referring to the response here from QuantumVerse111, "...it could be due to a software glitch..."

Have you (ever) reported the bug to Apple via Feedback - Logic Pro - Apple ?

Everything I've seen, including a lengthy thread about this at the Facebook Logic Pro users group that began on May 30, describes the same thing - that it's a problem with the update to 11.2. A software glitch that needs to be fixed, right?

yoyoBen - I didn't make an assumption. I asked a question about why the view count was not shown in this thread. Thank you for letting me know that I can visit the main page to find that. Incidentally, in doing so I see that this thread now has 1172 views and is by far the most popular topic currently shown there.

To answer your question, I have made multiple reports to Apple using the Feedback link, and I have been sharing it with others so that they can do the same. Further, in trying to reach Apple to fix this problem for weeks now I have been leaving crap reviews for Logic Pro at the app store where I add the links to this page, as well as to the Facebook groups where the same problem is described. I'm loathe to do this because I have loved Logic Pro for many years! While they will typically show critical reviews, they're not showing mine about broken Automation being incredibly problematic. Four weeks and counting...
