AirPods case making error noise and flashing red light

I was using my AirPods and when I opened the case, it played a noise and started flashing a red light. I’m pretty sure the sound is the same one as the mismatch sound but my AirPods were never mismatched. Even after putting them back in the case, the red light still flashes and it still makes the sound. It is charging and connecting perfectly fine.
