Unable to edit pages version 14.2 (7041.0.109) document

Hello,

I have a Pages document converted from MS word, that I need to amend, but I get the warning: You don’t have permission to write to the folder that the file "XXX" is in. I can create a duplicate document and edit it, but naturally would rather edit the original.

How can I edit my original (pages) document and avoid generating duplicate documents? I have checked the document and relevant folders which confirm that I have read and write privileges

Close the document and quit Pages.

Visit System Settngs > Privacy & Security and add Pages to Full Disk Access if it is not presently there.

Maybe even reboot the Mac, then press and hold the shift key while launching Pages and then reopen that same document. The document should be in the home directory (or Desktop) of your account, not on mounted or shared media to test your write capability.

Provided you are on Sonoma or Sequoia, you should be using Pages v14.4 now.

Hi Viking OSX,

Thank you for your reply. I'm on Sequoia 15.5 and have upgraded Pages to 14.4 I've tried everything you've kindly suggested. I can confirm that the document is in my Documents folder and not shared, but I still need to duplicate it in order to make any changes. However, when I drag and drop the document to my desktop I can edit as I wish.
