So i’m using my dads apple music plan and the apple music payment goes through his card. but i want to make in app purchases on my card but i can’t figure out how to change the card without getting rid of the apple music plan

Your dad would need to turn off "Purchase Sharing" for the family, otherwise all payments are done on the family organizer's payment method unless the you have gift card balance on your account.
Turning off Purchase sharing does not affect the subscriptions being shared, only actual purchases including in-app purchases.
