IPadOS 17.7.8 causing issues on my IPad Pro 10.5 inch

I never downloaded the 17.7.7 update since I heard it was buggy, but I did download the 17.7.8 update and it is making my IPad practically unusable. I have to constantly resign into apps, but it won’t let me login if I did so from my gmail because my IPad is now viewing google and Safari as unsafe, it says “Connection is not Private” every time I try to search something on Safari. Apps are not saving their place. I tried a Network Settings reset and the problems still here, even tried changing my Wi-Fi and nothing. I can’t even use any apps that require a network connecting including games and streaming apps. Is anyone else having this problem?

I despise iOS 17.7.8! Apps, including Safari constantly freeze upon opening and during use. I can’t switch between apps with out them freezing and pixelating. I have to close apps and reopen them. In one fell swoop, my iPad has gone from a go-to tool to worthless. I made the mistake of installing 17.7.8 without reading up on it. Never again!

iPadOS 17.7.8 was itself a fix for iPadOS 17.7.7; iPadOS 17.7.7 release did introduce problems when released.

If you are experiencing specific problems, Apple invite submission of comments and bug reports via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

If submitting a Bug Report, ensure that you include details of your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body-text of your report. Don't rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes the current versions.

I upgraded to 17.9.9. Nadda. No noticeable improvement.

With what, specifically, are you having difficulty?

Please fully describe the problem(s) - including screenshots as applicable. Screenshots will help to illustrate your specific issues; with a better understanding, contributors here will be better able to offer assistance.

You and anyone else that encounter issues with iPadOS 17.7.9 should submit a Bug Report via Apple's Product Feedback portal.  For iPad and iPadOS:

iPadOS 17.7.9 fixed Safari/browser reload-loop on 10.5-inch iPad Pro

I have an iPad Pro (10.5-inch, model MPGH2LL/A). After upgrading to iPadOS 17.7.8, all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) would endlessly reload any website and never finish loading. Tried the usual fixes (reset network settings, clear cache, disable Private Relay, etc.)—nothing worked.

Today I upgraded to iPadOS 17.7.9, and the problem completely disappeared. Browsers now load normally. If you're stuck in the same loop, backup your iPad and update to 17.7.9—it seems to resolve the bug introduced in 17.7.8.

Was very happy with my iPad Pro 12” (2nd Generation) and over the years saw no reason why to upgrade. Was waiting for the foldable iPad to arrive, not necause it will be foldable but because it will be larger. Then along comes 17.7.8 and all of a sudden my iPad became almost unusable with keystrokes being lost, unresponsive swipes. Was checking almost daily when an update arrives. 17.7.9 comes along and nothing changes. Bit the bullet and ordered the iPad Pro 13” 😢💰 mostly because of the problems that I was having, Apple stopping OS upgrades at the IOS 17 level plus hearing that Apple was stopping their work on the foldable iPad.

Now out of the blue my iPad starts to behave😳, why I don’t know. Maybe when the 17.7.8 update was installed it started some nasty background processes that was hogging system resources but now completed its tasks. Anyhow, will reset it and give it to my wife. It is still a great tablet, beautiful screen, great speakers. Hopefully the past problems does not return, mind you it is at the end of the line since it is still struggling at times, maybe the next upgrade will bring back more of the snap of the past.
