people can’t reach me on FaceTime and iMessage. I need this fixed. The issue seems to be my number.

It might be that Apple had to withdraw this feature. You can contact the official Apple Support for your region to find out if this is the case.

Depending on your region/country, you might not be able to register your phone number for FaceTime and iMessage, only your mail address.
