Why are Safari downloads not showing in files on my iPad after iPadOS 18.5 update?

I upgraded my iPad to 18.5, but now on the Suno.com website, downloads no longer work (they did on 18.4) in the Safari web browser. The download starts and completes but the downloads folder doesn’t show the downloaded file, but Safari does show the downloaded files when using the downloads-icon.

I tested with a download of a picture from somewhere else and that works, so you could conclude that Suno.om is at fault here. But when I use like Firefox on iPad OS, the Suno.com downloads just work.

The only difference here is an iPad OS upgrade, so Safari must have changed something in order to break these downloads, still shows them through Safari, but they cannot be found anywhere in Files.

Any ideas to fix this?

(I did restart, clear Safari caches/website data, all to no avail)

Or is this a new bug being introduced with 18.5?

Thanks,

John

I have the same issue on iPhone 15 Pro. Downloaded files are stored in "Downloads" section of Safari, and I have to save them manullay to Files app. I have tried all of the suggested fixes (selecting "Downloads" directory in Settings for Safari, clearing cache, etc.) but nothing helped so far.

This started with iOS 18.5 and it's inconsistent: sometimes files are downloaded properly, and sometimes they are not.

I have a theory that this is related to the way how websites present files for you to download, maybe it has something to do with URL.createObjectURL and how Safari treats those links, this needs to be tested.
